Riverside needs a new maintenance shop!

Riverside Lutheran Bible Camp has a 65 year history of providing Christ filled outdoor ministry experiences to campers and retreat groups of all ages. Stories from campers whose lives have been changed are a major part of Riverside’s history. Riverside’s future is just as promising as God blesses Riverside with more campers attending each year and growing programs. Much of Riverside’s past is still visible in the old buildings that are part of Riverside’s landscape. Nowhere is this more evident than the existing farm building that has housed Riverside’s maintenance shop for almost thirty years. The building is much older than thirty years and it is known that at one time it housed chickens or hogs. The building is simply outgrown and outdated. Replacing this building with a safe and modern maintenance shop today will enable Riverside to keep growing and guarantee Riverside’s future will honor the past

Riverside is proposing to build a 9600 square foot building that will address asset storage, work space and safety concerns. This building will also be large enough to meet future growth needs. This building will be located across from the current workshop at the east side of the camp. This land was purchased in the 1960’s and has seen little improvement since. Plans are for a steel building with a concrete floor. A steel building will be virtually maintenance free and increase the long term value. The shell will be contracted and the interior finished by staff and volunteers. Appropriate electric and gas service will be supplied. The goal is to build what is needed today with room to meet tomorrow’s needs as well.

Campers are served daily by the many tasks that begin at the shop. The tasks are varied and include everything from large tasks such as vehicle repair, cabin maintenance, repairing an air conditioner or ice machine, storage for tools and equipment to simply airing up balls and making mime sets. The shop is vital to Riverside. Please consider supporting this need just as you have contributed to other needs.

Come to the Table - Exciting news!

Riverside Lutheran Bible Camp reached the $1,000,000 goal in December 2007. This is an outstanding achievement for Riverside and is testimony to the faith in the ministry by so many generous donors. Thank you so much for supporting this appeal that built the new dining hall.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is an important partner of Riverside Lutheran Bible Camp. Thrivent Financial provides funding support and encourages volunteerism that helps build Riverside. Thrivent Financial provides supplemental funds through county chapter service teams and GivingPlus matching from individuals with Thrivent Financial products. Riverside also receives Regional and specific purpose grants.

Special Events

Riverside hosted Heavenly Night Galas in 2006 and 2007. These were planned and carried out by caring and visionary volunteers who worked many long hard hours to bring these special events to fruition. Both events were sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. God richly blessed the 2007 Heavenly Night Gala with more than 200 guests and very nice weather given the time of year. Guests enjoyed great food, music, dancing fellowship and an entertaining auction.

Both Galas proved to be fruitful fund raisers with donations and the auction raising over $38,000 in 2007 and $73,000 for both galas. Thanks to Riverside’s Thrivent Financial for Lutherans grant, 100% of the money raised was applied to the Come to the Table appeal. Many attendees were introduced to Riverside’s new dining hall for the first time and saw how this building is a tool for growing faith and bringing God’s love to campers of all ages.
