Riverside Marriage Retreat - March 5-7, 2010
What does a Marriage Retreat look like at Riverside? The weekend is filled with sessions with our speakers, God’s Word, worship, skits by our program team, lots of fun, fellowship and laughter. It is a time to get away from our normal schedules, the phone ringing, demands as being parents, housework, cooking, dishes, yard work, etc.! Take the time to be with your spouse in an atmosphere which encourages godly marriages, lasting relationships, friendships within marriages, and fellowship with others.
What couples enjoyed most about the Marriage Retreat weekends:
Time together, Riverside is a safe place, being reminded what God desires from us as man and wife, meeting new friends, the Dinner Theater (which was new last year), the speakers, laughing so hard together, time away from busy schedules, kids, phones, and work, being in God's creation, praying together for the first time!
“A Fruit-Filled Marriage: God's Abundant Design”

We will take time to discover and discuss spiritual versus earthly “designs” for marriage that are often in competition with each other. Marriage is not meant to be experienced in “survival mode.” God has designed marriage to be a place where we experience and share His abundant gifts of grace, forgiveness and hope. This Retreat will provide the space for you and your spouse to reconnect, recommit, and reclaim God’s promises for your marriage.
Speakers - Enrique & Martha Ochoa
We are excited and thankful for our speakers, Enrique (Q) and Martha Ochoa, from Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. They have been married since 1992. Enrique serves Nazareth Lutheran Church as Leadership and Team Development Director and Martha works as a physician at the University of Northern Iowa. Together they enjoy traveling, taking walks, dogs and an occasional expensive restaurant. They are the proud parents of four active and loud children: Joshua (15), Becky (13), Joel (10) and Lydia (8).
Special Event: AWAKEN
A special event for Saturday evening this year is a presentation by AWAKEN Drama Ministry for Marriage Retreat attendees only!
Drama has always been an important part of the evangelical nature of Riverside. Awaken grew out of the long tradition of “mime dramas.” Every Thursday night this drama, which depicts the Gospel of Jesus Christ, is presented to campers and guests in the Riverside Chapel. Awaken Ministry began as part of the Riverside ministry in 2005. The drama was shared in venues throughout the Midwest during the fall and spring with enthusiasm and interest growing rapidly. In 2007, the best scenario for both Awaken and Riverside was to allow Awaken to grow and flourish as its own separate ministry.
We are excited to bring Awaken to Riverside for the Marriage Retreat and are confident this will be an added blessing to the weekend.
